About Deborah Ridgeway
A Little About Me
All my life, I’ve loved working with people! I started my career as an elementary teacher, and taught for 12 years. I loved that work, but was still drawn to social work as a way to support parents and families, as well as students. That was 18 years ago, and I’ve never regretted it. I have a slightly ‘wacky’ sense of humor that’s gotten me through everything!
I have worked in the public schools as a school social worker for 13 years, ages Pre-K through high school. I have worked for about 2 years in outpatient behavioral health in an at-risk part of Colorado.
I am a single parent with two grown daughters. Another passion of mine is working with animals, and I have volunteered with animal shelters wherever I am located. I also enjoy traveling, reading, yoga, gardening, cooking and spending time with friends and families.
My Methodology
Healing is hard work, and the process is unique to each individual. Together we will identify your goals and begin treatment (including homework!) Periodically, we will assess your progress and change course if needed. I want our time together to make a difference in your lived experience through application of the strategies we’ll uncover together.
My Approach to Care
I am eclectic in approach, drawing from different types of therapy; but I am always strengths-oriented! I am curious and approach each situation with respect and an open attitude. I believe that people are doing what makes sense to them, so meeting you where you are is the best way to work.
